Australian Federal Police partners with Castlepoint Systems to strengthen government information security
Castlepoint Systems have announced they have partnered with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) as their chosen in place records management solution. This collaboration marks a milestone in the AFP’s recordkeeping modernisation plans, providing the ability to manage and leverage 4.5 Petabytes of sensitive and valuable information across its network using Castlepoint’s Explainable AI (XAI).
The AFP, as the principal federal law enforcement agency of the Australian Government and a member of the National Intelligence Community, handles vast amounts of sensitive data in its mission to prevent, investigate, and disrupt serious crime, while also providing national security support and protective services. Given this responsibility, the AFP requires robust data protection as well as efficient and effective utilisation of information for its intelligence value.
Following a comprehensive global market engagement spanning three years and evaluating 186 functional requirements, the AFP selected Castlepoint to streamline and strengthen their information governance across the enterprise. Castlepoint has now completed the first stage of deployment and system interfaces, and the solution will offer a single view of all data, enabling enterprise-grade search, audit capabilities, privacy and cyber risk management, and compliant records governance with autoclassification.
“Australian Federal Police has extensive obligations for compliant information management as the volume of digital records it holds proliferates, combined with the need for investigators to quickly access the data they need,” said Rachael Greaves (pictured), CEO of Castlepoint Systems.
“Castlepoint integrates information discovery, audit, privacy, cybersecurity, records management, and Generative AI governance into one capability, providing a comprehensive view across AFP’s entire environment to apply security and compliance processes, reducing risk.”
Castlepoint’s XAI is currently used in two-thirds of Australian federal government portfolios, managing over records across 1.6 million systems. The platform has identified and protected more than a quarter of a billion sensitive and high-risk records, automatically applying appropriate retention rules for preservation or lawful destruction.
This collaboration highlights Castlepoint‘s commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions for complex information governance challenges and supports the AFP’s mission to protect Australia and its national interests.
